Entry #8. Best Reality-Competition Shows.
Hello, and welcome back to another blog post in Irv's Subconscious Thoughts. Today, the topic to be discussed is the best competition reality shows I have seen. Unlike Jersey Shore or The Real World, competition reality shows such as survivor follow a format where contestants compete with or against one another to win prizes. So today, I will be introducing my favorite competition reality shows.
One: Survivor
Survivor is a reality game show in which 16-20 people are sent to an isolated location (usually but only sometimes a tropical island). Initially, the players are separated into 2 or 3 tribes. Every few days, the tribes will compete in challenges for reward and immunity. The tribe that doesn't win immunity must go to the Tribal Council and vote one of their own out of the game. When 12-10 players remain, the tribes are merged, and challenges are individual. The winner gets immunity from the vote, but all others are at risk of being voted off. All players voted off at this phase become a part of the Tribal Council Jury. When only 2/3 remain, the jury will vote for a winner between the 2/3 players who are left. The winner will receive a large cash prize. There are currently 45 seasons of Survivor that you can watch in no particular order!Survivor is a reality game show in which 16-20 people are sent to an isolated location (usually but not always a tropical island). The tribe that doesn't win immunity must go to the tribal council and vote one of their own out of the game. When 12-10 players remain, the tribes are merged, and challenges become individual. The single winner of the challenges gets immunity from the vote, but all the other players are at risk of being voted off. All players voted off in the merge phase become a part of the tribal council jury. When only 2-3 players remain, the jury will then vote between the remaining players and decide who will win the title of sole survivor and the cash prize.
Survivor is such a great show because of the changing dynamics from episode to episode. When voting each other out, there is a tremendous amount of strategy involved that keeps audiences on their toes. Especially in cases where you believe someone will be voted out, and that player flips the whole game upside down, and someone unexpectedly gets voted off. Two: Big Brother
Big Brother is a reality game show where 16 strangers are put in a themed house for 70-100 days. Each week, the houseguest must compete in a head-of-household competition where the winner nominates two of their fellow houseguest to be evicted. There is another competition each week called the power of veto, and the winner of this competition can remove one of the nominations or keep them the same. If one of the nominees gets removed, the Head of Household must renominate a fellow houseguest, and they will be the final nominees. At the end of the week, the remaining houseguest, aside from the Head of household and the two nominees, will vote to evict one of the nominations. This process will continue each week until two houseguests are left, in which the houseguests who have been evicted will crown a winner. The winner will receive anywhere from $500,000-$750,000.Big Brother is my top competition reality show because of one of the most remarkable aspects of any show like this: Live feeds. Live feeds grant you access to watch the gameplay in real-time. If you cannot watch an episode, that's okay; you can just figure out what happened later by watching the live feeds. Secondly, Another phenomenal aspect of Big Brother is that one of my prior neighbors, Dan Gheesling, was on the show a few times and won it once.
The Amazing Race is another competition in which teams of two people race around the world in competition with other teams. The Race is split into legs, with teams tasked to deduce clues, navigate in foreign areas, interact with locals, and perform physical and mental challenges that often highlight aspects of a location's culture, history, or economy. Throughout the race, teams travel by airplanes, helicopters, trucks, bicycles, taxicabs, cars, trains, buses, boats, and on Foot. Teams are progressively eliminated at the end of most legs for being the last to arrive at designated Pit Stops until only three remain. The first of the three teams to arrive at the finish line is awarded the grand prize of $1 million. The
Amazing Race is remarkable because, unlike many other competition reality, each episode gets your adrenaline pumping due to the pace of the racers, which is nonstop until they have completed the leg. Additionally, it is immaculate to see each destination the racers travel to. My favorite destinations for each leg are Norway, Japan, and India. Seeing the racers out of their element definitely adds an entertaining aspect.
