Entry #4. Three Major ways Arizona and Michigan Differ.

Hello everyone and welcome back to my fourth blog!

In today's blog, I will be discussing the ways Arizona and Michigan Differ! First, let me add some context so this post doesn't feel so random and out of nowhere. A little over a year ago I lived in the Great Lake State which to be more precise is Michigan. When I turned 19, I was presented with the opportunity to back my bags and come live in Arizona. After about a month of debating, I decided it was a good option for me.

Now living in Arizona for about a year now I would like to present my top 3 differences between both states, good and bad!

ONE: SCENERY DIFFERENCES.

As we know Arizona is known for its beautiful mountains that range from small to large, its surplus of cacti of different varieties, and the big desert land that cities are plopped down into. However, Arizona scenery is very different from Michigan scenery. While Arizona has deserts and not much flatland, Michigan has lots of greenery, forests, and lots of flatland. Michigan has an excessive amount of lakes and rivers, whereas Arizona has very few in comparison. And finally, a little addition of an opinion that may or may not be relevant, Arizona sunsets and sunrises are Amazing compared to Michigan.

TWO: DRIVERS OF BOTH STATES

It can be said that in Arizona it feels as though there is an unwritten rule that when driving in a 45mph zone you should be going the minimum of 55-60mph, based on the fact that if you don't people will go around you. Whereas in Michigan it is frowned upon to exceed the speed limit that much because the different standard is to always drive safely. Arizona also holds A lot of irresponsible driving errors such as cutting in front of other cars, running red lights, and no blinkers for lane changes.  A key reason I believe there is a tedious difference in driving between both states is that in Michigan there were a lot of circumstances such as weather and the way the roads were constructed that caused Michigan residents to drive extra cautiously.

THREE:  THE STORES

The biggest shock of moving to Arizona was that some of my favorite stores were not here. Here in Arizona, we have four main stores which would be Walmart, Frys, Safeway, and Target. Although Michigan still has Target and Walmart, there is still no Kroger or Meijer. Another layer to this could be the gas stations. No gas station in Arizona is also in Michigan, and if there is, it's miles upon miles away which is sad. Speedway was my favorite gas station to go to for cheap gas and slushies. Since moving here my new Speedway has become Circle K, although it holds no light to Speedway

Well, guys that is all I have for this blog! Thank you for tuning in for another week of "Irv's Subconscious Thoughts" Please return next blog!

Comments

  1. It is so interesting how different these two states are even though they are in the same country! The driving part is especially interesting to me because from what I have heard Arizona is known for having bad drivers.

  2. I have visited Michigan before, but didn't realize some of these differences. The green writing is a different setup. I also like the images that you used in the descriptions.

  3. I lived in Northern Ohio for a few years (about 30 mins from Michigan). The flat landscape there was such a shock to me, as it's very different than Arizona, and I wasn't prepared for it.
