Entry #5. Mayhem

Hello and welcome back to another blog post from Irv's Subconscious Thoughts. Throughout the prior blog postings, we have discussed a variety of topics that range from introductions to movie recommendations, however, today's posts will differ. We have all seen those silly Allstate commercials, where each advertisement goes over the different ways Allstate covers you by using humorous and over-the-top methods. Today we will be analyzing one of those ads!

from swatting the bathroom sink on and leaving it running to knocking over a candle, this ad presents all the dramatic ways a cat can cause damage to their owner's home. Although the instances shown in the ad can be considered over-the-top and unlikely to occur such as the running water causing the ceiling to fall through, it seems Allstates intentions were to generate the feeling of relatability as audiences who own cats know that cats get into many things they shouldn't.
To add to the relatability aspect of the advertisement it can also be noted that through this aspect, Allstate is trying to sell its insurance to a specific audience which would be cat owners or even people who own pets, this can be explained by the persuasive details only stemming from instances where pets ruin a home.
Again Allstate briefly shows instances where it would be beneficial to be insured through their company and this is the similar case for almost all Allstate ads. This shows that Allstate shows the value of being insured since many scenarios such as the cat advertisement, can leave someone needing a great insurance company that covers the clients.
Through the ad, we get the point of view of a cat, and the intentions of said cat are shown. The "cat" goes over the ways that it has been plotting against its owners dramatically and funnily. According to the "cat," these plots can be handled by being protected by Allstate insurance. The way that this was set up from start to finish was an effective way to present an issue funnily and find a resolution which turns out to be the insurance company.
Overall, Through a funny presentation of a cat's intentions and offering a solution to these bad intentions, audiences of cat owners or even animal owners are gifted with a solution that includes being insured by Allstate, which provides protection if any of these instances occur.

Thank you for reading through another one of Irv's Subconsious Thoughts blog posts! Hopefully, there was enjoyment in watching this ad and analyzing what most of the ad's exigence was. Stay tuned for more content in the future.
